Historically at Cog Hill, we had used Kentucky bluegrass blends for our roughs on all four golf courses...until we were introduced to RTF.
It has performed in every way that we have asked it to. Whether we plant it on bunker faces, high traffic areas, naturalized areas, or closely mowed intermediate rough it maintains great color, density, and health all season long. Its traffic tolerance, drought and disease resistance, superior color, and density make it an easy decision.
We will continue to use RTF for all of our continued construction and overseeding projects without a doubt.

We began using RTF roughly 6 years ago on some of our south facing bunkers as the bluegrass wouldn’t perform to our liking.
We tried out a few and were greatly pleased by the vigor with which the RTF held through the season and the years after.
We have since utilized RTF on all bunker face and pond bank renovations. Our hope is to continue our interseed program with RTF in our high traffic areas and eventually all our rough due to its durability during summer stress and drought conditions we sometimes see.

In the years following a bunker remodel, we struggled with our new fescue bunker faces. Each year they would ultimately fail, leaving my membership frustrated and asking questions. Adjustments to our maintenance program had no effect on the quality of turf on our faces, so we knew it was time for a change.
RTF was suggested by a fellow superintendent, so we rain a trial on a few bunkers. We even went as far as splitting a south facing bunker with RTF and Bluegrass to evaluate how each would perform under identical conditions. After watching the bluegrass struggle and the RTF thrive, it was an easy decision to convert all of our bunker surrounds to RTF.

We tried RTF sod in a side-by-side trial in the fall of 2016 for an upcoming tee and bunker project, in 2018 here at the club.
We put RTF up against two different types of the best Kentucky bluegrass varieties on the market, and the difference was huge.
We found the RTF to be more drought tolerant, stayed greener through the summer and didn’t require as much watering. The watering aspect of it was huge in several ways from saving water and energy to helping keep our bunkers and greens firmer which our players demand here at the club. The one sticky point to the entire trial was the actually playability of the RTF in comparison to the bluegrass, which everyone has been use to. After surveying our golf membership, no one could tell any difference in product in regards to playability or appearance. The RTF grows on the toughest of soils, thrives and even helps reduce weeds popping up.

I've planted seed and sod lawns (etc) for years.
This is the best color, sustainability, disease resistant, and overall performance in a fescue I've ever had.

My clients want landscapes that use as little water as possible. Reducing chemical use and time spent on maintenance are desired as well. Traditional lawns are very greedy.
Our clients are using less and less water over time. We also get very few Spring callbacks looking for overseeding.
I have found RTF to be a superior lawn, and my clients respond positively to us recommending it.

Our front yard had old tired bluegrass that was thinning out horribly. We also had a tree stump and outdated bushes and plants where you see the wheel barrel.
We stripped it all and installed RTF Sod. Can you say gorgeous??

Our RTF tall fescue sod is becoming increasingly more popular for bunker renovation projects.
RTF is being selected for increased drought tolerance, reduced thatch production, and distinct appearance.

The Omaha Country Club hosted the 2013 U.S. Senior Open. RTF Sod was used on the bunker faces and some of the surrounds and outside boundary areas at the Omaha Country Club.
It was held in July and water was shut off to most of the course in order to host the event. The RTF held up well and was a beautiful dark green color on the bunker faces.

When I first learned of RTF, I was skeptical at best, but willing to try anything in the shade under the burr oaks that produced nothing more than mud in my yard.
The RTF was not only the perfect solution for that area, but I am now living with the value of the low water requirements of the RTF. My house backs to a large treed park. The lawn is so beautiful even the parks personnel comment on it.

We have been redesigning bunkers on our course this past year. Our choice of grass for our new bunker faces is RTF. The reason for using RTF is because it tolerates the heat and uses less water than other turf varieties.
RTF’s rhizome production also holds up on the bunker faces compared to other Tall Fescues.

I have really enjoyed your RTF Product.
I am still the envy of the neighborhood and have been told our lawn looks like Wrigley Field.

RTF is not Your typical Tall Fescue. A few months ago I re-sodded my yard with RTF tall fescue from Kuenzi. As a contractor I've used tall fescue blend seed before and found them slow to fill in a lawn, even when over applying seed by a factor of three. So when I did my own yard I thought I'd try RTF sod and I'm glad I did. The sod was thick, strong, flexible, and cut in perfect rolls. It went down flawlessly.
After a few months and a little fertilizer, it looks fantastic - even with heavy use by pets and kids. Lots of random people walking by complement it. It's easy, durable and good looking. What more could you want.

The newly sodded front yard has transformed the look of the whole home. The installation team was knowledgeable, professional. The RTF is everything you said and more, thick, hearty, soft and a beautiful deep green.
Thank you for a wonderful experience and the beautiful front yard and we are anxiously awaiting getting the backyard done this spring!!

Eric McPherson, CGCS, from Omaha Country Club talks about they have embraced RTF from Barenbrug throughout the course. It has been RTF’s ability to deal with extreme weather conditions on each end of the spectrum while demanding less inputs that earned his trust as they make changes and prepare for the 2021 U.S. Senior Open.
